Focus on the environment
A model of environmental excellence for the harbor
Already certified as a Clean Port and Biodiversity-Active Port, Maribay Toulon Plaisance a proactive and structured approach to ecological transition. And its ambition goes even further. As a mission-driven company, it strives to be an exemplary port, committed on all fronts: underwater, on the water, and on land. This exemplary status is based on concrete environmental objectives, which are regularly evaluated and translated into visible actions on a daily basis.
Because a sustainable port is a port that takes action, we are doing everything we can to ensure that the marina's marinas become a shared benchmark in terms of respect for the environment, protection of living organisms, and responsible innovation.
Certified ports, engines of biodiversity
Maribay Toulon Plaisance its existing environmental commitments, notably through the Ports Propres (Clean Ports) and Ports Actifs en Biodiversité (Ports Active in Biodiversity) certification process. These globally recognized certifications (ISO 18725) serve as a demanding compass, guiding daily operating practices and guaranteeing a high level of environmental performance. This dynamic is accompanied by increased development of selective sorting, including for waste specific to port activities (paints, solvents, oils, hazardous products), and soon, the recovery of bio-waste.
The goal is not only to maintain these certifications and strengthen them, but also to go further by aiming for new ones. Through this approach, we intend to make our marinas exemplary port ecosystems, where biodiversity is both protected and encouraged.
At sea, this involves the widespread installation of Biohuts®, underwater nurseries that provide shelter for juvenile fish. On land, additional measures are also being studied or have already been implemented, such as the installation of birdhouses and beehives, and the creation of green spaces to preserve and enrich terrestrial biodiversity.

Water bodies under close surveillance
To preserve the quality of port waters, Maribay Toulon Plaisance concrete and visible technical resources. Six DPOL surface robots are already crisscrossing the waterways to continuously suck up floating waste. This fleet, which will gradually expand, keeps the surface clean at all times, while preventing pollutants from dispersing out to sea or sinking to the bottom.
Our Environmental Brigade, made up of two agents, works daily to collect floating waste from the surface of various bodies of water. Thanks to their vigilance and regularity, their actions enable the collection of large quantities of floating waste and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.
In addition to providing this equipment, we actively participate in collective clean-up operations, such as the French Navy's Rade Propre campaign, which every year mobilizes volunteers, associations, and divers to clear waste from the seabed and coastlines. It's a way of working together, both on land and underwater, to make ports cleaner, day after day.
More modest and greener infrastructure
Maribay Toulon Plaisance environmental issues at the very heart of its port infrastructure. The gradual installation of individual water and electricity meters allows each user to monitor and better control their consumption. Connected showers, initially deployed in Saint-Mandrier and Lazaret, complete this energy-saving initiative.
Every redevelopment or renovation project incorporates a clear environmental ambition:
- Greening of spaces as soon as possible, particularly in the ports of Lazaret, whose natural identity must be preserved.
- Use of renewable energy with the gradual installation of solar panels on buildings. The long-term goal is to achieve maximum energy independence for ports.
- Finally, we will support developments related to new types of boat propulsion (electric, hybrid, or biofuel engines) by adapting our equipment and services to facilitate this energy transition in the recreational boating sector.
Raise awareness, engage, empower
Because preserving the port environment is everyone's business, Maribay Toulon Plaisance an active and inclusive educational approach aimed at all audiences. In Saint-Mandrier and Toulon Vieille Darse, fun and educational trails will be set up: through clue-based games, young and old alike will discover at each stage a facet of the environmental commitments made by ports, from marine biodiversity to waste management.
But raising awareness also involves regular port users. Photo exhibitions on underwater wildlife, conferences on Posidonia, activities focusing on simple actions to adopt: we regularly organize outreach initiatives to inform, unite, and change practices. It's a friendly way to encourage every boater to play an active role in making ports cleaner and more respectful of their ecosystems.
Port construction projects designed for tomorrow
At each stage of the work undertaken on port infrastructure, Maribay Toulon Plaisance systematically Maribay Toulon Plaisance rigorous impact studies in advance in order to minimize disruption to the natural environment and port life caused by the construction work.
This requirement is accompanied by a genuine low-carbon strategy backed by Eiffage's expertise. The buildings are designed to be as energy-efficient as possible, aiming for environmental performance labels and using energy-efficient and sustainable equipment. Photovoltaic panels, solar shade structures, recycled or bio-based materials: every component of the new developments is designed with circular economy and energy optimization in mind.
These responsible projects, which accompany changing practices and the major transformations to come, embody a vision where port development and respect for the environment sail in the same direction!
